Steel Traps and Trapping for Pleasure and Profit
If you have ever participated the setting of Steel Traps there is an appeal or passion which comes over them each autumn about the time of the first frosts. The only cure seems to be a few weeks on the trap line.
You may look upon trapping as an unprofitable business, yet the number of trappers is increasing, for more and more people are yearly obtaining pleasure, profit and health from outdoor activities such as trapping, hunting-, etc. There are thousands of trappers across America who are harvesting fur each year from their Steel Traps. It is often valued at hundreds of dollars in addition to the healthful sport they enjoy.
There are many thousands of trappers all the from the Gulf of Mexico to the Arctic Ocean and from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean that make hundreds or thousands of dollars each year with Steel Traps.
There is also a great many who trap only a few weeks each season. This includes boys and farmers who trap after the busy farming season. Actual numbers of those engaged in trapping is not known. Nor is the actual value of the raw fur catch, but may easily exceed 100 million dollars yearly. Is it any wonder then that so many want to know more about Steel Traps and Trapping?
There is a considerable amount of the information available in regard to traps, scent, decoy, etc.,from old and experienced trappers from all parts of America as well as from the manufacturers, such as Oneida Community Ltd. At lot of this information is available in old out of print books which you may find online or in your local library.
Steel Traps are superior to Snares or Deadfalls due to the fact that they can he used for both land and water trapping while Snares and Deadfalls are adapted to Land
Trapping only. In addition steel traps can be used over and over again.
